Agent setup guides

Two guides in the RPT AI Video Studio source repository go deeper than these pages. They are kept side by side: one is the tool reference for any MCP client, the other a step-by-step runbook for an agent that sets up a customer.

The two guides

  • External agent MCP guide

    docs/external-agent-mcp.md

The tool-level guide for any MCP client: how to create and produce a video, and the rules that keep a session out of trouble.

    • Quick start with agent_preflight and agent_continue
    • Hard rules: copy model refs, upload then attach references, never set confirmed yourself
    • Token modes, response shapes, errors, timeouts and unknown outcomes
    • Client setup, reference images, image editing, long films and prompt writing
  • Zero-touch agent setup

    docs/agent-zero-touch-setup.md

A runbook for an agent that sets up the studio for a customer and then makes their video. The person brings an idea, pays and says yes at a few moments.

    • The person’s touch points and how long each takes
    • Account, token and environment variable, step by step
    • Connect and verify, turn the idea into a brief, make and deliver the video
    • When something fails, spending guardrails, token renewal and what is not possible today

Both are Markdown files; the paths are relative to the root of the repository.

When a guide and the server disagree

The server is the source of truth for your token: tools/list, agent_preflight, list_video_models and the instructions in the initialize reply. When a guide says something else, follow the server.

Rules both guides share:

  • Never create an account, type a password or handle payment details for a person. Give them the steps and wait.
  • Never print, log or commit the token. Refer to the environment variable by name.
  • Never call a paid tool before the person agreed to its price.
  • Set confirmed and rights_confirmed only after the person said yes.
  • Say plainly when something is not possible today. Do not improvise a substitute.
